How to get a Million People to Send You a Dollar
It does not take a math genius to know that if one
could get a million people to give them a dollar it would make them a
millionaire. The trick is how to get a million people to send a dollar.
Before the internet it would have taken a lot of
time and money to accomplish that feat. By the time you reached the million,
you would have spent most of it.
Although this did not keep people from trying. They
did it through the mail and advertising in the form of chain letter, gifting,
and pyramid scams.
The internet has created a medium that anyone can
use Now most people literally have the world in the palm of their hands with
android and iphones. Millions of people can be reached for little to no cost if
you know how. The scammers are also well aware of this; chain letters, gifting,
pyramid schemes among other scams are alive and well on the internet trying to
get a million people to send a dollar.
Unfortunately, this has made it harder for the
honest person to make a buck via the internet. On a positive note, it is still
very possible to do, and how to get a million people to send a dollar is not
that difficult.
Unconventional ways people have tried to get a million people to send a dollar
When I say unconventional, I mean other than selling
a product or service to make a buck. This also includes scams. After all, they
have become so common I consider them to be conventional ways.
Pondering this question, I started to search Google,
here is what I found. Honesty seems to be the best policy, and in most cases it
is, but not for trying to get a million people to send a dollar.
I did find something quite fascinating. Not only
were these people honest about asking for a dollar and offering nothing in
return, I found them to be somewhat arrogant about it. What’s worse is some of
the comments. They were actually hating on these people for asking for a buck.
Near as I can figure, they were looking for ways to get a million dollars and
hating on these people because they beat them to the simplistic idea of just
asking.
I came across one guy that totally reversed this
situation, Craig Rowin. Instead of asking for a million people to give him one
dollar, he asked for one person to give him a million. Supposedly someone did,
but I found no evidence of it. I think it was a publicity stunt to get people
to come to his comedy act where he is suppose to be receiving the money. I bet
he got a lot of people to come just out of curiosity before and after that
night and that is one way to get a million people to send a dollar, except they
are giving it at the door.
With all that said, none of the “gimme a dollar”
schemes worked. It reminded me of something we use to say when someone said
“gimme”, gimme left town, go get him.
Why this method get a million people to send a dollar
did not work.
They went about it the wrong way. I still believe
that honesty is the best policy, but nobody cares about your troubles. It may
sound a little crude, but we all have troubles. True story time. Stopped at a
red light one day I was approached by a man with a 5 gallon bucket asking for
donations. A five gallon bucket? Really? I promptly told him that I had my own
bucket I was trying to fill.
Some just admitted they were too lazy to work. Need
I say more?
Others tried to pass it off as a social experiment.
Yea, we really are that stupid. One sure fire way to not get a million people
to send a dollar give is to insult their intelligence. The funny thing is they
probably could have gotten the government to give them a grant for that
research. I can think of a lot more ridiculous studies they have given money
to.
The main reason why they did not succeed at this
venture is that they targeted the wrong audience. They were attracting people
that were looking for ways to get a million, not give a million. Even if it is
only a dollar, these people were looking for a way to make a dollar, not give
it.
Why would anyone in their right mind think that
people looking to make money are just going to give it to them without
receiving anything of value in return. That’s like asking the man digging in the
dumpster for food to buy you a hamburger.
