Make the Sale
As a college and internet educated marketer with experience; I would like to explain in a nut-shell what it takes to make a sale in the digital world.
Sales is the lifeblood of your business whether it be a product or service. Let's face it, not all of us are salesmen.
First rule you must remember; if you are not confident in the product, how can you build confidence in your customer?
Unless you are a shady sleazeball that does not give 2 cents worth of thought into selling anything, you must consider the value of the product.
People in general can tell if you are sincere. Belief in your product can make the sale much easier. If you have a product you are currently struggling with sales, that is something to consider.
Then you must consider if others find value in the product. Sometimes we have to look at what others think. Get some idea from rejections. Don't be afraid to ask them why (other than money) they do not need your product.
If your product has a demand, then you must look at your approach, presentation, and close. this all depends on your audience, and how you need to engage them. Below I am going to give a basic description of how to writ effective sales copy.
Copywriting takes on several
different aspects when it comes to marketing. Copywriting: not to be confused
with copyrighting is the art of writing effective sales copy (Rowlson, 2014).
For this post, I am discussing
email, sales pages, and articles designed to inform and persuade the audience.
Writing an
effective persuasive email has to be the hardest for several reasons. The
subject line has to be extremely effective or the email may not get read. It
must cover the first 2 elements of grabbing attention and creating interest in
just a few words.
Effective sales
copy is a little more detailed, but also needs to be concise and to the point in order to make the sale. All the points must be in place in the right order to lead your prospect to one
conclusion, “I need this product”.
The introduction
is very important. This were you grab the reader’s attention and introduce the
product or service. Introducing the problem by asking a question can also be
effective at this point.
After grabbing the attention and introducing the problem,
we must build rapor. This is when we establish authority, build trust and
offer the solution.
I find this method to be very effective. Create a typical
profile of someone that would want or need your product. Use NLP (Neuro-linguistic Perception) within the language and form to make them take action. I know it may sound a
little crude, but I have discovered that people in general have short attention
spans, myself included.
In the conclusion we want to create some sort of call to action. This must be done with tact. Restate some benefit if at all possible. "Get the secrets of the rich here"
That is pretty much it in a nut-shell, communication is the first consideration when it comes time to make the sale.
